El periódico australiano The Age ha abierto un nuevo concurso de cuentos cortos. La fecha límite para la entrega de manuscritos es octubre 1, 2010  a las 17.00.  Se anunciarán los ganadores en diciembre.

Los cuentos ganadores de 1er, 2º y 3er puesto serán publicados en formato A2.  También serán publicados en theage.com.au junto con todos las entrada de mención.

El primer premio es $3000;  el segundo premio: $2000; y el tercer premio es $1000.

Australian newspaper The Age is now accepting entries. The closing date is October 1, 2010 - 5pm. Winners will be announced in December.

The 1st, 2nd, 3rd winning stories will be published in A2. They will also be published at theage.com.au along with all highly-commended entries.

“A Family Sketch” era un manuscrito sin publicar de 64 páginas escrito por Twain cerca de 1896 ó 1897 para Olivia “Susy” Clemens, quien inspiró algunos de sus cuentos y quien incluso escribió su propia biografía de su padre.

El documento tambián contaba aspectos de su propia infancia y fue descrito como el capítulo que faltaba de su autobiografía.”

“NEW YORK (Reuters) – A tribute written by American novelist and satirist Mark Twain to his daughter, who died of spinal meningitis at the age of 24, sold at auction on Thursday for $242,500, almost doubling pre-sale estimates.

The unpublished “A Family Sketch” was a 64-page, handwritten manuscript that Twain wrote around 1896 or 1897 for Olivia “Susy” Clemens, who inspired some of his stories and even wrote her own biography of her father.

The document also reminisced about his own childhood and was described as the missing chapter of his autobiography.”

The Madrid Book Fair has already begun and this year the guests of honour of the nordic countries.  There are over 500 nordic authors published in Spain.

As every year, the fair takes place in the emblematic area of the Retiro Park.  A good excuse for a stroll or simply to meet your favourite author.
