What did the Twenty Hundreds Ever Do for Us?
Call them the “Naughties”; call them the “Two Thousands”; call them “The Twenty Hundreds” (as I do) or call them anything else: I’m going to argue that the first decade of the New Millennium got us off to a great start. I know that’s going to be controversial. There were many terrible things that happened. Likewise some of the things I list below as positive events might be exactly the kinds of things that you personally hate! (And, of course, there’s the old argument about dates: didn’t our Millennium begin in 2001 and won’t its first decade end at the end of 2010?)

Landscape as understood by Geography is both a concept and a methodology in science and culture, each with their own content but together they provide an original image of the Earth. This can be observed in the fundamental integrators of landscape components. The reason for this, as Bertrand Russell stated with regards to philosophy, is that it may not be possible to find two geographers who will give the same answer to ‘what is geography?’.

Chasing ghosts. Are there lynx in the north of Spain?
We can't guarantee categorically that they exist today, but we can say that they did exist in Galicia and right along to the extreme eastern point of the Pyrenees, both on the French and Spanish side. Lynxes are the largest felidae to have survived in Europe in recent centuries. In the distant past our ancestors lived alongside lions, panthers, jaguars and pumas but many of these large felines became extinct before the end of the last glaciation, 10,000 years ago.

Civil Inattention.
You are walking along the road and you cross paths with a stranger. This is daily social interaction, something familiar to us all: briefly glancing at the other person as we pass them by is something we do every day without thinking.
